My Shapewear Secret: What’s Under My Dress

Hi Guys,

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding in June.  This was the first time I was in a wedding since I was a flower girl when I was a 7 or 8 years old.  I had a heck of a time trying to find something to wear and actually ended up ordering online and got a pretty good deal on my dress.  Here’s what I wore  below.

My next feat was what to wear underneath.  Since my dress is white, I picked a nude color long capri shapewear piece underneath and same color undergarments to go with this dress so they won’t show through.

I was hoping that the Spanx High-Falutin Footless capri Pantyhose would give me a continuous smooth look under this dress.  This dress picked up any cellulite ripples or pot belly shadow so I had to figure out what would best combat that.

The next item I chose was the Bra 5 at Lane Bryant. This bra converts into 5 styles one being the strapless bra.  I thought about using the strapless option, since the straps of the dress are sheer, but I felt better using the clear straps option instead.

I waited to the last minute so I ran to my local mall and my favorite store (Lane Bryant) and picked these items off the shelf; otherwise, I would have cast a wider net to search for my shapewear.  Summer weddings are so much fun.  It’s great to be invited to actively participate in a ceremony.  Only thing that was worrying me was how long I was going to have to stand in those darn high-heeled shoes.

So here’s the skinny on what happened.  I put on my bra with the clear straps and everything fit very well and the straps were nonexistent under my dress.  My problem I had was with the Spanx footless pantyhose.  I should have gotten something more substantial in the hold department cause it did zip for firming me up but I was able to pull things off because I wore a wrap that went over my dress and I was able to cover myself up and still look fairly nice.  I loved my dress and it fit well.  All I needed was a seamstress to hem the bottom and I was ready to go.

My biggest problem I had were my feet.  I have flat feet and put Dr. Scholl’s insoles in my shoes.  I thought I would be “gelling like Megellan”, but my dogs were barking.  I actually had to come out of my shoes during the wedding.  All in all, I had fun and enjoyed myself.  I hate to report my white dress suffered greatly from an accident with blue frosting from the wedding cake but it was worth every bit because of all the fun I had.
